HUGE CHOONZ!!!!

When I was younger (the tender age of 5) my father started buying the Tighten up series. We had volumes 1, 3, 4 & 5. 37 years later and I am looking through this site, trying to find a suitable 40th birthday present for my brother (only two years younger than me who would have been dancing to these tunes as a kid). When I realised I this CD was available, I didn't give it a second thought. Bought two copies, as our smaller brother would kill for a copy once he had heard it.

They arrived last Thursday. Placed the first CD in the car stero and drove all the way home with a smile on my face!

Funnily enough, my brother had the same nostalgic smile when he opened his pressie and played it, so I knew I had got him the perfect gift.

Your grandad and grandma will love it, you will love it and your children will wonder why you are dancing again!

Classic Tunes

This takes me back to my youth.Happy summer days,tea & buscuits round me girlfriends & lots of jigging around! Its WONDERFUL STUFF! if u aint heard it TRY IT.....if u aint got it BUY IT!

Pretty good considering it's a double CD and a reasonable price.

Some great songs here including a version of Monkey Man which I hadn't heard before.

Obviously with this kind of material and the vintage, the recording quality isn't very refined. But it's still enjoyable.

doesn't not contain the complete stuff

Please note that this can't nor does contain all tracks from the EIGHT volumes of the Tighten Up vinyl / album series.
Each album originally had 12 tracks, so a 96 tracker would be needed to make it complete (appr. 4 CDs).
If you really hunt for the complete series, you have a couple of alternatives: Get the old (from mid 90s) 2 on 1 for volumes up to 6 (= 3 CDs - best & most complete for the money), get the Trojan "Tighten Up" Box set (issued in 2002, but still in print, 50 tracks in total, also many tracks are missing here, although you only get here 16 tracks from vol. 7 & 8), get the expanded versions from 2002 (singles CDs up to Vol. 5, with appr. 13 bonus tracks on each vol.), OR get the new (2008-2009) "Deluxe Editions" which are 2 CD sets with bonus tracks (mostly B sides) on disc 1 and alternatives on the 2nd disc - the most you can get musically-wise - also really nice packing - but these are only available currently on vol. 1 and vol. 2.

Took me back to my childhood, will get the whole of the back catalogue one day!
