Grammy winner (for 2001's Halfway Tree) Damian "Junior Gong" Marley, the youngest singing son of the immortal Bob and brother of Ziggy, Julian, Stephen and Ky-mani, has made a major splash in the family business. The confrontational title track of his third album (which entered the Billboard Top 200 Albums Chart at Number 7, the biggest opening week ever for a reggae artist), deals with vacationing "haves" partying on the backs of increasingly desperate "have-nots." It has fomented a storm of protest from corporate entities who claim that Marley has presented his homeland (or more accurately, their interests) in a negative light. Another high point is "Pimpa's Paradise," a heartbreaker about drugs leading to prostitution, backed by a vulnerable-sounding acoustic guitar. Produced by Damian and Stephen Marley, it's an eclectic, sophisticated mix, constructed over treacherous rhythmic undercurrents, illuminated by empathy, courage and soul. A shifting kaleidoscope of classic and cutting-edge Jamaican grooves spars with R&B and hip-hop, references to Marcus Garvey, Eek-A-Mouse, and Exodus, plus guest stints from Buju Banton, Bounty Killer, Bobby Brown, Black Thought and Nas. --Christina Roden

Amazing
I am a new Damien Marley fan, but he's got love for life!!!
Must be in the genes!!! All of the tracks a good. It's my first continous play CD in a long time. You dont have to skip around at all, just let it roll!
Beautifulleo
I love this cd. Damian Marley may not have the same style as his father, but that is good. He displays his own unique talent and style throughout this cd. I have this in heavy rotation. He spits a lot of truth on this cd and he also gives you some light hearted songs too. I would mos def recommend buying this cd.
The best 'Dancehall' out there arrived quickly
Of course this is a great album and it got to me very quickly. Extremely pleased with my experience.
He's not Bob Marley, but still catchy!
I am in no way comparing Damian Marley to Bob Marley. Bob Marley is a legend, and I dont think anyone would ever be able to do what he did or even get close to the level that he was.
Damian Marley's CD is excellent. Great songs that really get you in the mood to dance. There are also tracks like "pimpa's paradise" and, of course, "welcome to jamrock" which deal with very heavy issues. All in all, wonderful CD and definitely recommend it to anyone who loves reggae/dancehall music :)
The son of Bob shines like a light!
Damien is most definitely the Jr. Gong. In a time where radio and music videos exploit women and teach our youth absolutely nothing; the marley family continue to pump out hits that educate and enlighten. Rock on Damien!
